HCC Game 45 February Fortress

DATE/TIME:  February 17, 2024, 1:00PM
ROUND TIMES:  Round 1 at 1:00 PM; Rds 2 & 3 asap.  (Tournament expected to end by approx 5:45PM)
TIME CONTROL: G/45; d5  Each player receives 45 minutes plus a 5 second delay per move, to complete each game
LOCATION: Play More Chess Academy, Home of the Hamden Chess Club, 1227 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06517
REQUIREMENTS: Participants must be current members of the US Chess Federation.  Join or Renew your US Chess membership here.
All K-12 Participants Must be Rated 700 or Above to be eligible for this tournament.  (Scholastic players should also see our monthly Scholastic Tournaments which are open to all students (K-12) of all rating levels).
BYES:  Can't make it to all the rounds?  You may take one half point bye in any round.  Bye must be requested by Entry Deadline.
PRIZES:  $275 b/20 entries
$125-75; Top U1500 not otherwise placing: $75
Players with tied scores share prizes equally.

HCC Club Members:  $25;  Free Early Entry for Titled players and HCC members rated 2000+ ($25 Deducted from Prize)
Non-Members: $35

Non-Members: $40

ADDITIONAL NOTES:  Limited to the first 36 entries.  No exceptions.   Any participants under age 13 must be rated 700+.   Weighted tournament sets, digital clocks (DGT 3000) provided for all sections. Must use our equipment. All players must be current members of US Chess (go to USCHESS.org to join or renew your USCF membership/membership ID number).   No spectators. There is a picnic table and limited outdoor seating available.  A list of area establishments (nearby food, book stores, coffee shops, etc) is available on the Play More Chess Academy web page in the About section.  Free parking is available on behind the Academy, including free street parking on Putnam/Lake Drive that goes behind the Academy and adjacent Books and Co.  CT Transit Bus stop is adjacent to Academy at intersection of Putnam/Whitney Ave.
