HCC April Action Quads (G/25,d5)

DATE & TIME:
Mon, April 17, 2023;  6:30PM  (Round 1 at 6:30PM, subsequent rounds ASAP.  End time: Between 8:30-9:30PM depending on quad).

QUAD FORMAT:
The HCC will conduct a quad US Chess rated tournament open to all adult players ages 13+, as well as players under 13 who have a USCF rating of 800+.  Quads, which group players by their skill level, are a great way to ensure closer matchups for a more fun and competitive challenge.  Opportunity to play three regular rated games in one evening!

HOW IT WORKS:

• Players must register in advance
• 3 USCF rated games
• Tournament will be limited to the first 36 players who register
• Entries are first registered, first served
• Quads are open to all adult players ages 13+ (Under 13 who have a USCF rating of 800+ are also eligible to participate). Scholastic players should also see our monthly Scholastic Tournaments which are open to all students (K-12) of all rating levels.

WHEN:
HCC Monthly Action Quads will usually occur on the 3rd Monday of the month (with the other Monday evenings open for casual play).  Check the website PlayMoreChess.com to confirm dates for all HCC tournaments

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION:
Free parking is available on behind the Academy, including free street parking on Putnam/Lake Drive that goes behind the Academy and adjacent Books and Co. CT Transit bus stop is adjacent to Academy at intersection of Putnam/Whitney Ave.

PRIZES:
$30 to the winner of each quad, $35 for perfect 3-0 score

TIME CONTROL:
G/25, d5.  Each player receives 25 minutes, plus a 5 second delay each move, to complete each game

ENTRY FEE:
Early entry - $20 (by 11:59PM day prior); Early entry (HCC Member): $15;  Free Early entry for HCC Member rated 2000+ (Entry fee of 15 deducted from prize)
Regular entry - $25 (by  6:00PM day of tournament);  Regular entry (HCC Member): $20

OTHER NOTES:

• All players must be current members of US Chess (go to USCHESS.org to join or renew your USCF membership/membership ID number)
• Must register for each of our tournaments in advance - first registered, first served  (space is limited)
• Quad players are not permitted to withdraw mid-event.  Participants must plan to play all three rounds!

WITHDRAWALS/CONTACT:

• If you cannot make it to the tournament, and have to withdraw, email:  info@playmorechess.com.  A request for a refund may be made no later than Sunday, 11:59PM (day before tournament).  Refunds for this tournament must be requested by email and are subject to a $10 cancellation fee.
