Entry Fee:

  • Early Bird (by March 24): $90
  • Regular (March 25 - 28): $110
  • Late (March 29):  $130

Sections:

  • Two age divisions:
    • Junior (U50 Years Old)
    • Senior (50 & Over)
  • Each division has two sections:
    • Open Section (no rating restriction)
    • Reserve Section (U1800 rating cap)

Total Sections: 4 (Junior Open, Junior Reserve, Senior Open, Senior Reserve)

Rounds & Time Controls:

  • Saturday & Sunday: 10 AM, 2 PM & 6 PM
  • G/90,d5

Byes:

  • Two half-point byes per tournament are allowed
  • To receive a half-point bye, you must request it at least one hour before the affected round begins.
  • Last-round byes are permitted, but you must request them before round 3 starts. These last-round bye requests are irrevocable once submitted

Additional Age-Based Prizes:

  • $50 for Best Player Over 65 and Best Player Over 50 in both Senior Open & Reserve sections (only if you haven't won any other prize)
  • $50 for Best Player Under 18 and Best Player Under 12 in both Junior sections (only if you haven't won any other prize)

Registration:

Eligibility:

  • Unrated players are not eligible for cash prizes.
  • Grandmasters (GMs), Women Grandmasters (WGMs), International Masters (IMs), and Women International Masters (WIMs) play for free (but $100 deducted from any prize they win).
  • Southern California residents must be members of the Southern California Chess Federation (SCCF).

Additional Information:

  • Most recent chess ratings will be used for pairings and prizes.
  • Provisional players (with less than 26 games) can only win 50% of any prize money.
  • $15 fee for refunds and withdrawals.
  • Event is not FIDE rated.
