After you register, check the Entry List on this website to confirm that your name is there. No one will be allowed to play if they are not on the Entry List.

NOTE:
- SCCF Membership is mandatory for all Championship sections ! Register/Renew SCCF Membership here. (If you're unsure whether your SCCF membership will expire or needs renewal before SuperStates begins, please check here.)
- The tournament is USCF-rated, but not FIDE-rated.
- The March 2005 Supplement Rating will be used for pairing and section eligibility.
- Chess set will be provided. Please bring your chess clock.
Sections:
- K-1 (Minimum rating of 300)
- K-3 (Minimum rating of 500)
- K-5 (Minimum rating of 600)
- K-8 (Minimum rating of 800)
- K-12 (Minimum rating of 1000)
NOTE:
1. Kindly note the minimum rating requirement for each Championship section. We will utilize the March 2025 supplement rating. The only exception would be if you need to include a player who falls below the minimum in order to complete your 4-player team. Please send an email to superstates@icea1.org to request an exception.

NOTE: One 1/2 point bye is allowed in Championship sections, and never in the final round.

Entry Fee:
- Early Bird: $100 (by Jan. 21st)
- Regular: $120 (by Feb. 28th)
- Late Entry: $150 (by March 21st)
Event Cancellation Policy
- $5 Cancellation Fee until March 1st. Then, until 3/21, $10. No refunds at all if you cancel after March 21st. Only email will serve as a valid cancellation.

National Invitationals - How to earn the opportunity to represent So Cal
The following finishers who are residents of Southern California will be invited to represent Southern California at the respective invitational events at the 2025 US Open:
- Top 9th-12th Grade Finisher in the K-12th Championship - Denker Tournament of State High School Champions
- Top female in K-12* - Haring Tournament of State Girl Champions
- Top 6-8th Grade Finisher - Barber Tournament of State Middle School Champions
- Top K-5th Grade Finisher - Rockefeller Tournament of State Elementary School Champions
* If the top female finisher is also the top overall finisher (and is in grades 9-12th), she can choose to represent So Cal in either the Denker or the Haring. If she chooses the Denker, then the 2nd-highest female finisher in the K-12 will be invited to be the Haring rep for So Cal.
FAQ
Q: I am from Northern California or another state. Can I still participate in the SuperStates Championship?
A: Yes, you are welcome to join us and compete for trophies! However, you must have an SCCF membership to participate in the Championship. Please note that you will not be eligible to represent Southern California in the National Invitationals.
Q: I recently moved to Southern California. If I win, will I be eligible to represent SoCal?
A: Yes, as long as you have updated your billing address to your Southern California residence and notified US Chess to update your state affiliation.
