SCHEDULE

8:45 Doors open. There is no check-in; all registered players will be paired.

9:30 Round One for all sections will begin following announcements in the playing hall. 

Subsequent rounds are paired ASAP with a break for lunch. Awards ceremonies take place for each section ASAP after that section's final round is complete.

SECTIONS 

• SECTION I: K-3rd U600  Five rounds, G/45. K-3rd graders rated under 600.

• SECTION II: 4-6th U600  Five rounds, G/45. 4th-6th graders rated under 600.

• SECTION III: K-12th U900  Five rounds, G/45. All grades rated under 900. K-6th graders rated under 600 may play in either section 1 or 2 according to their grade. 

• SECTION IV: K-12th U1300  Four rounds, G/45; d5. All grades rated under 1300. Clocks required. Notation is strongly encouraged.  

• SECTION V: Premier  Four rounds, G/45; d5. All grades. Players must have a rating of 1300+ in order to play in this section. Clocks and notation required. 

  • Email section-change requests before the registration deadline to osco.td@gmail.com. 
  •  ALL section-change requests must be made before the day of the tournament.       

PRIZES

• SECTION I-III:   Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place individuals and Outstanding Performance trophies for players with 4.0 or higher who did not place in the top three. Team trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd-place teams.  Medals for players with scores of 3.0 - 3.5.

• SECTION IV:   Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place individuals. Team trophy for 1st-place team. Medals for players with scores of 2.5 or higher.

• SECTION V:  Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place and Top U1500. Team trophy for 1st-place team. Medals for players with scores of 2.5 or higher.

SPECTATOR POLICY

Spectators are not permitted in the playing hall while games are being played. Players must exit the playing hall after finishing their games and reporting their scores.

When the first round is paired, parents are encouraged to accompany their players as they find their boards and listen to morning announcements. You may remain for the first five minutes of the first round only to observe your player and take a photo. After the first five minutes, we will ask you to return to the waiting area.

For rounds 2-5 parents who wish to escort their players into the playing hall may do so, but must then return to the waiting area. Since we need to keep the playing hall quiet, please, NO talking while finding your child's board.

EQUIPMENT

• SETS are provided for tournament games, but players are encouraged to bring their own for skittles (waiting area).
• CLOCKS provided for U1300 and Premier. Other sections may bring your own if you have one. Clocks may be purchased from Wholesale Chess. You can support OSCO by using the link on our homepage.
• SCORESHEETS are provided for this tournament.

REGISTRATION

Registration ends January 16th. No registrations will be accepted after the deadline.

Entry is $25/player. Parents registering three or more siblings at the same time: $20/player.

Current US Chess membership is required.

• OSCO will sponsor the first year of membership for Oklahoma resident players. If your child does not have a USCF ID, please do not register them with US Chess. OSCO will do this for you.

• Out-of-state players can purchase first-time memberships or renewals through OSCO for $10 (half price).  Choose the "Voucher + Regular" option when you register.

• Any scholastic player can renew an expired membership through OSCO for $10. Choose the "Voucher + Regular" option when you register.

You will receive a confirmation email with a link to a membership voucher form. Please submit the form right away so your child's membership can be processed in time for the tournament.
