It's National Chess Week and we're celebrating that at Wilson Elementary School! If your child is K-12, come join us for a fun filled day of tournament chess!

SCHEDULE

8:45 Doors open. There is no check-in; all registered players will be paired.

9:30 Round One for all sections will begin following announcements in the playing hall. 

Subsequent rounds are paired ASAP with a break for lunch. Awards ceremonies take place for each section ASAP after that section's final round is complete.

Last-minute cancellations or late arrivals please text 707-685-7045. This allows us to start our tournament on time and eliminates pairing players with no-shows. Thank you!

 

 


SECTIONS 

  • SECTION I: K-3rd U600  Five rounds, G/45. K-3rd graders rated under 600.

  • SECTION II: 4-6th U600  Five rounds, G/45. 4th-6th graders rated under 600.

  • SECTION III: K-12th U900  Five rounds, G/45. All grades rated under 900. K-6th graders rated under 600 may play in either section 1 or 2 according to their grade. 

  • SECTION IV: K-12th U1300  Four rounds, G/45; d5. All grades rated under 1300. Clocks required. Notation is strongly encouraged.  

  • SECTION V: Premier  Four rounds, G/45; d5. All grades rated 1300+.  Clocks and notation required. 

    • Players rated 1100+, who played in Premier at least once during the 2022/23 season, may play up into this section upon request.
    • Email section-change requests before the registration deadline to osco.td@gmail.com. 
    •  ALL section-change requests must be made before the day of the tournament.       

 


PRIZES

  • SECTION I-III:   Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place individuals and Outstanding Performance trophies for players with 4.0 or higher who did not place in the top three. Team trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd-place teams.  Medals for players with scores of 3.0 - 3.5.

  • SECTION IV:   Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place individuals. Team trophy for 1st-place team. Medals for players with scores of 2.5 or higher.

  • SECTION V:  Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place and Top U1500. Team trophy for 1st-place team. Medals for players with scores of 2.5 or higher.

 


SPECTATOR POLICY

Spectators are not permitted in the playing hall while games are being played. Players must exit the playing hall after finishing their games and reporting their scores.

When the first round is paired, parents are encouraged to accompany their players as they find their boards and listen to morning announcements. You may remain for the first five minutes of the first round only to observe your player and take a photo. After the first five minutes, we will ask you to return to the waiting area.

For rounds 2-5 parents who wish to escort their players into the playing hall may do so, but must then return to the waiting area. Since we need to keep the playing hall quiet, please, NO talking while finding your child's board.

EQUIPMENT

  • SETS are provided for tournament games, but players are encouraged to bring their own for skittles (waiting area).
  • CLOCKS are provided for Sections 4 & 5. For all other sections, please bring your own if you have one. Clocks may be purchased from Wholesale Chess. You can support OSCO by using the link on our homepage.
  • SCORESHEETS are provided for this tournament.

 


REGISTRATION

Registration ends October 3rd. No registrations will be accepted after the deadline.

Entry is $25/player. Parents registering three or more siblings at the same time: $20/player.


Current U.S. Chess membership is required. For Oklahoma resident players, OSCO sponsors one-year memberships for new players and half-price renewals for memberships that have expired.

New Players: If your child does not have a USCF ID, please Do Not register them with US Chess. OSCO will do this for you. Once you've completed registration, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to a new player membership form. Simply submit this form and OSCO will process the membership at no charge to you.

Expired Memberships: Check here to see if your player's membership is current and will not expire before the tournament. Players who need to renew may do so through OSCO at the discounted membership of $10/year. Please choose the regular entry + renewal option ($35). Follow the link in your confirmation email and submit the membership renewal form.

RULES :  Players and parents are responsible for knowing OSCO tournament rules before the tournament.

 

CANCELLATIONS:  If you have a last minute cancellation or late arrival, please text the tournament director at (707) 685-7045. 

 

CODE OF CONDUCT: I have read the policy and understand that the OSCO board has the right to remove players from the tournament if they break these rules.

 

SPECTATOR POLICY: I have read the spectator policy for this tournament and agree to abide by these requests to ensure that all children may have an enjoyable chess playing experience.
