SDCC JUNE SCHOLASTIC TOURNAMENT
(For grades K through K12)
JUNE 23, 2024 (Sunday)

 

Location: San Diego Chess Club (2225 6th Avenue, San Diego)

Schedule:

  • First round starts at 12:00 pm, please arrive 15 minutes earlier by 11:45.

  • Tournament is expected to be done by 4 pm, lower rated sections might finish earlier.

  • Awards ceremony right after all games are done.

Sections:

  • OPEN K-12 (recommeded for ratings over 700, advanced scholastic players, any grade)

  • U700 K-12 (recommended for experienced scholastic players, any grade)

  • U400 K-5  (recommended for beginner scholastic players, up to 400 USCF, up to 5th grade)

  • We reserve the right to change sections and move some participants if sections are uneven

Format: 3 rounds, G30 increment 10, USCF rated as Regular / Quick

Byes:

  • Only 0 pt byes are allowed

Entry fee:

  •  $25 + processing fees if paying via credit/debit card
  • If you would like to pay using Venmo ($25), chose the second payment option when registering. Send your payment to @SanDiegoChess
  • For families with more than 2 kids, 3rd/4th kids get in for free (choose the third payment option)
  • Refunds will be issued if you need to cancel your participation - $5 refund fee.

Prizes: Top 4 players in each section will be awarded trophies

Live Updates: all info (players, pairings, standings, tiebreaks, byes) will be available via CaissaChess live. You can view updates online or sign up for emails/text alerts.

Pairings: There will be no check-in process. Tentative Pairings will be posted before the tournament and will update with new registrations and cancellations (via CaissaChess live). If the oppopnent doesn't show up, we will pair with any available player from the same section or give 1 full point.

Regulations:

  • The pairings will be posted before the event, all no-shows will get forfeits and will be withdrawn from the tournament

  • No credit will be given to no-shows (if you don't notify us you need to cancel).

  • If you need to cancel, please email as soon as you know.

  • If you are running late, please email so that we know you are coming.

Terms and Conditions
  • If the participant is YOUNGER than 10 years old, parent/guardian/designated adult should be present on San Diego Chess Club’s premises during the tournament (No drop-offs).
  • I agree to hold harmless the San Diego Chess Club, Scholastic Coordinator  (Irina Nizmutdinova) and all tournament staff from  any events that cause harm/damage to your child and/or personal belongings. The tournament and tournament staff are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
  • There is a “Zero Tolerance Policy” for any inappropriate behavior such as criticizing, bullying, not listening to tournament instructions, or any attempt of harm of anyone else. Consequence: Immediate removal from the tournament.
