2nd Annual DMV Open Scholastic Championship

Executive Conference and Training Center

22685 Holiday Park Drive, Dulles, VA 20166

July 13 & 14, 2024

  • This is a two-day tournament on July 13 & 14.

  • Eight rounds. Round times are as follows: Saturday at 11 am, 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm, 4 pm, and Sunday at 11 am, 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm, 4 pm

    • Participants who cannot attend on both days should leave a note in the field labeled "Comments/Bye Requests" when registering. We allow players to request up to four half-point byes. If someone misses an entire day, they will receive four half-point byes (2 points for the standings) for the day they are absent. Half-point byes do not impact USCF ratings.

  • Four sections: K-12, K-8, K-5, and K-3

  • Individual prizes: Trophies will be awarded to the top five finishers in each section

  • Team prizes: One trophy for the winning team and individual trophies for the top four scorers on the winning team. Only the top four scorers on a team will count for the purpose of team prize calculations.

    • Note: Players are not required to be on a team. Most players will be competing as individuals only. If you want to be on a team with other students from your school, make sure to include your school name when registering. There is an option on the registration page for school/team.

  • Time control: Game in 25 minutes with a 5-second delay

  • Entry fee: $55 by 6/9, $60 by 6/30, $65 by 7/12, $70 on the day of the tournament (on-site registration closes 30 minutes before round 1)

  • Masks are optional

  • Boards and pieces will be provided for all players

  • This tournament is US Chess rated

  • PARKING INFORMATION: There is plenty of parking at the Executive Conference Center. The Conference Center owns all of the hotel properties nearby, so we also have permission to use any of the nearby hotel parking lots.
