This tournament is free for anyone playing in The 1st Annual Metropolitan Open. Players can play one, two, three, or four bonus games depending on when their Saturday-night round finishes.
Players not playing in the main event are also welcome to participate but must pay an entry fee ($30 by 4/20, $35 by 4/30, and $40 up until 5/6).

Four rounds: first round at 8 pm, subsequent rounds occur as soon as possible
One section
This tournament will feature Monrad pairings, which is a variation on Swiss pairings that reduces mismatches. Only one section is necessary with Monrad pairings, as players are often paired against closely rated opponents. Time control: Game in 25 minutes with a 5-second delay (both USCF regular and quick rated)
Cash prizes: $100 for 1st, $50 for top Under 1500 player (only one half-point bye for U1500 prize purposes)
Up to three half-point byes allowed
Entry fee:
Free for anyone playing main event (on-site registration only--wait until your Saturday night game finishes so we know which round you can join)
All others pay $30 by 4/20, $35 by 4/30, and $40 up until 5/6
Masks are optional
Boards and pieces will be provided for all players, but we don’t have enough clocks for everyone (those who have clocks are welcome to bring them)
This tournament is USCF-rated
The hotel has free parking. There is both a parking lot and parking deck which players can use.
