Closest Metro Train Station: Friendship Heights (Red Line) Courtyard Marriott Hotel - Bethesda / Chevy Chase is two blocks away from the Friendship Heights Metro Station across the street from Saks 5th Avenue and Brooks Brothers.

One Section: Elementary School (3rd – 6th)  

1st Place $400, 2nd Place $200, 3rd Place $100    

Top Elementary Student K – 2nd  $150 

Large trophies and cash prizes awarded to the top three players and the top Elementary K – 2nd  School Student.

Students will play 4SS USCF rated games. USCF Membership is required. No elimination! Each game is 30 minutes with no delay. Possible 10-minute blitz playoff if necessary to determine who wins the tie breaker. Game times are 9:30am, 11:30am, 2:30pm, 4:30pm with a trophy ceremony following the final match. Please arrive by 8:00am for check-in, rounds start exactly at 9:30am. Players should bring their own sets and clocks. Chess equipment is not provided! No half point byes are provided. Students in grades below 3rd are welcome to play. A top Elementary K- 2nd grade student prize is offered to the top performing Elementary school student below 3rd grade. K- 2nd grade Elementary school students are also eligible to win (double prizes) including any Elementary School (3rd –6th) prize and the top Elementary K – 2nd grade prize based on their performance.  All prizes are guaranteed! Regardless of turnout! Parents are not allowed in the playing area but are welcome to stay in the hotel lobby area. All entry funds generated from this event will support future scholastic chess tournaments provided by Icon Chess Foundation.  Space is limited to the first 50 students who register. No registration will take place on the day of the event. No entries are accepted after Wed.
