Tournament Information:

• For the first time since 2010, the D.C. Action Championship is back.
• This tournament is open to everyone (adults and children of any skill level).
• D.C. residency is not required to participate.
• Location: Edmund Burke School, 4101 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, D.C. 20008
  • There is more than enough free parking for all players on Upton Street, which borders Edmund Burke School.
  • Edmund Burke School is about a five-minute walk from the Van Ness-UDC metro station.
• 6 round Swiss tournament.
  • This tournament will feature Monrad pairings, which is a variation on Swiss pairings that reduces mismatches. The use of Monrad pairings eliminates the need for multiple sections as players are often paired against closely related opponents, especially in early rounds.   • Up to two half-point byes allowed. Byes are allowed for all rounds. Deadline to request byes is before the start of round three.
• USCF regular and quick rated. Time control: Game in 30 minutes with a 5-second delay.
• Saturday, November 12th, rounds at 11 am, 1 pm, 2:30 pm, 4 pm, 5:30 pm, and 7 pm
• Registration closes at 10:30 am on November 12th
• Entry fee: $45 on or before 10/31, $50 on or before 11/7, $55 on or before 11/11, $60 on the day of the event
• PRIZES: $500 for 1st, $250 for 2nd, $100 for 3rd, $100 top U1900, $100 top U1600, $100 top U1200, $50 top U900
• Chess sets are provided for all players, but there are only a limited number of extra clocks. If you have a clock, please bring one.
• Masks are optional.
