Things are opening up again in Southern Califorina. It remains unclear when we can meet for OTB competitions again. But since things can move quickly we may or may not have time to complete this tournament. 

For this reason I decided to reduce the registration fee by 50% with the understanding that this might be a shorter event than anticipated. There won't be refunds in case the tournament will be terminated early.

If you wish to be paired for round 1 you have to sign up by 6pm Thursday, April 1st, 2021. I will send out round one pairings on Thursday night. People who sign up later will receive a bye for round 1. No exceptions!

This tournament will be held online and all games have to be played on Lichess.

It's a 5 round SINGLE Swiss. Each round consists of ONE game.

The time control for all games is G60 + 10. To be clear, one game with a time control of 60 minutes plus 10 seconds increment.

Distribution of price money will be announced at a later stage. Ties will be resolved in a 2h blitz arena (G6+1) on 05/07/2021. 

Pairings after round 1 will be published not later than Tuesdays.

A maximum of one 0.5 -point bye will be granted for any of the first four rounds. There will only be 0 point byes for the last round. Byes must be requested by Monday night. If your opponent agrees you may play your game on any day between announcement of the pairings and the following Monday. Games are played on Fridays starting at 7.10 pm. Players are required to check in prior to their games.  The checks-in procedure will consist of visiting our lichess team at https://lichess.org/team/san-gabriel-valley-chess-club and say hello in the chat room.

Players who don't show up for their games without notifying the TD and their opponent prior to the game will be eliminated from the tournament without refund.

Signing up requires a US-Chess Membership number, the membership does not have to be active. This tournament is not USCF rated. If you don't have US-Chess membership or if you have any other issues signing up please contact me at sgv.chessclub@gmail.com
