Schedule: Round 1 Friday, 7pm. Rd. 2 Saturday, 11am and Rd. 3, 4pm. Rd. 4 Sunday, 10am and Rd. 5, 3pm.
Time Control: 5 rounds of G90+30s increment per move.
Sections: Championship (minimum rating of 1500 USCF), (U1600), (U1000/UNRATED).
Prize fund: $4000, based on 80 paid entries.
Championship (USCF 1500 minimum): 1st $ 1000, 2nd $500, 3rd $300. Top 1800 $200. U1600 (USCF 900 minimum). 1st $500, 2nd $250, 3rd $200. Top 1300 $150. U1000/UNRATED: 1st $400, 2nd $250, 3rd $150. Trophies for top 3 scholastic players in the U1000 section. Medals for all scholastic players in the U1000 section.
Entry Fee: $100 by May 1st. $110 May 1st - July 11th. $120 after July 11th.
Amenities: Free Parking, all equipment provided, quiet playing conditions, multiple arbiters always available, water and light snacks during games, coffee.
Tournament Policies: Refunds: If you need to withdraw, please contact the Charlottesville Chess Club email (see below). A $5 refund fee applies to all refunds. Refunds are not available after the start of the tournament.
Unrated Players: Must play in the U1000 section unless granted special permission by tournament director. Unrated players are only eligible for 50% of any cash prize earned.
Byes: Players may request a maximum of 2 half point (0.5) byes. Bye requests must be placed before July 18th at 11:59pm.
Forfeits: 30-minute no-show policy. The game will be considered a forfeit exactly 30 minutes after the round start time.
Cell phone policy: possession of a device that makes a noise during the game will result in an automatic forfeit.
Media policy: Charlottesville Chess Club uses media platforms to promote the club. By registering for this event, I consent to appear in the Club's social media/website posts.
