Tournament Information

  • Last year's tournament drew over 150 participants! We hope to have an even greater turnout this year. Please help us by spreading the word about this tournament!

  • This tournament will take place on Sunday, July 28th at 10 am.

  • Four rounds: first round at 10 am, subsequent rounds occur as soon as possible

  • Four sections: K-12, K-8, K-5, and K-3

  • Time control: Game in 25 minutes with a 5-second delay (US Chess regular and quick rated)

  • Entry fee:$45 by 7/27, $50 on 7/28 (on-site registration closes 30 minutes before round 1)

  • Boards and pieces will be provided for all players, but we don’t have enough clocks for everyone (those who have clocks are welcome to bring them)

Note: For trophies, ties will be broken using standard US Chess tiebreaks. In the event of a tie, the free camp prize will be determined by tiebreaks. If multiple players get a perfect score, each of them will receive a free camp entry.

 

Venue Information/Logistics

  • PARKING: The Executive Conference and Training Center has plenty of free parking.
  • Free water will be provided for attendees.
  • There is no scheduled lunch break, but there is almost always time for players to have food between games. There aren't any scheduled round times--rounds will occur as soon as possible.
  • We might have a chess vendor at the tournament selling books and chess merchandise, but this is not a guarantee.
  • We might have an expert/master coach providing free game analysis, but this is not a guarantee.
  • See below for information about sleeping rooms if traveling from out of town.

 

Hotel Accommodations:

The Best Western Dulles Airport Inn on 45440 Holiday Drive offers the cheapest rate and is right next to the playing venue. This hotel is only about a twenty-second walk from the tournament. The Best Western also offers free breakfast.

Side Event
