Please read before registering:

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SECTION:

K-2: Good for beginners in Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st, & 2nd grade 

K-5: Good for beginners in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade OR players in Kindergarten, 1st, & 2nd grade who have performed strongly in the K-2 section in previous events & want to play stronger opponents.

6-12: Good for players in 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th grades 

K-12: Rated: Good for stronger players of all ages & grades who routinely place in the top 3 of their usual unrated sections & want to get a United States Chess Federation (USCF) rating, while still playing for trophies. THIS SECTION IS USCF RATED AND REQUIRES A USCF MEMBERSHIP & ID NUMBER.

Open Rated: This is the strongest section of the tournament & is open to children & adults. Good for players with at least a 1000 USCF rating or who have routinely performed in the top 5 of the K-12 rated section. THIS SECTION IS USCF RATED & REQUIRES A USCF MEMBERSHIP & ID NUMBER. NO TROPHIES ARE AWARDED, PLAYERS PLAY FOR CASH PRIZES.”

Unrated Sections:  K-2, K-5, and 6-12

Rated sections:  K-12

Please note that the rated sections will be open to all participants and rated by the US Chess Federation and participant MUST have a current USCF membership.

Schedule:  Parents/Grandparents and kids should check in between 8:00 - 8:30 a.m.

MANDATORY PLAYER'S MEETING at 8:30 a.m.

Round times:  Round 1: 9:00; Round 2: 10:00; Round 3: 11:00; Round 4: 12:30; Round 5: 1:30

The awards ceremony will start at 2:30 p.m.

Lunch: Players will have a lunch break starting immediately after their third round game ends until 12:25, five minutes before the start of round 4.

You may go somewhere else for lunch with your child and bring them back by 12:25.

Entry Fee: (will include an online processing fee) 

K-2, K-5, and 6-12 sections (unrated): $25

K-12  (rated ): $30

Scholastic Prizes:  Trophies for 1st-5th place and medals for 6th-10th will be given out, unique prizes such as the Chess Queen Trophy awarded to the girl who scores the most points, the David vs Goliath trophy to the lowest grade player who scores the most points, and medals for participants showing outstanding sportsmanship will be given out at the awards ceremony. School team trophies will also be given out for the top 3 schools (must have 4 players from the same school to be eligible)! Participation medals will be given to all.

Make sure to put in your child's school name so that you will be eligible for the school team trophy!

Please double check the section you are signing up for is correct (and the correct price) before submitting your registration!

Please note: There will be NO refunds for registrations.  Any cancellations on the part of PALS or participant will be credited towards a future event. NO credit will be issued for cancelled registrations with less than 24 hours notice prior to start of tournament.
