SCHEDULE: 

8:00 Doors open. There is no check-in; all registered players will be paired.

8:40 Pairings will be posted

9:00 Round One for all sections will begin following announcements and presentation of chess bags to new Premier section players in the playing hall. 

Subsequent rounds are paired ASAP with a break for lunch. 

 

Last minute cancellations or late arrivals please text 707-685-7045. This allows us to start our tournament on time and eliminates pairing players with no-shows. Thank you!

I: K-3rd U400

K-3rd grade rated under 400. Five rounds, G/45

🏆 Individual trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Outstanding Performance trophies for 4+ points. Team trophies for 1st and 2nd.

🎖️ Medals for players with scores of 3.0 or higher.

                                       

II: Elementary School U600

K-5th grade rated under 600. Five rounds, G/45.

🏆 Individual trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Outstanding Performance trophies for 4+ points. Team trophies for 1st and 2nd.

🎖️ Medals for players with scores of 3.0 or higher.

 

III: Elementary School Championship

K-5th grade with a 600 or higher rating. Five rounds, G/45.

🏆 Individual trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Outstanding Performance trophies for 4+ points. Team trophies for 1st and 2nd.

🎖️ Medals for players with scores of 3.0 or higher.

 

IV: 6-8th U900  

6-8th grade rated under 900. Five rounds, G/45.

🏆 Individual trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Outstanding Performance trophies for 4+ points. Team trophies for 1st and 2nd.

🎖️ Medals for players with scores of 3.0 or higher.

 

V: Middle School Championship  

6-8th grade rated 900 or higher. Four rounds, G/45 d;5  Clocks required*.  

🏆 Individual trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Outstanding Performance trophies for 3+ points. Team trophies for 1st and 2nd.

🎖️ Medals for players with scores of 2.5 or higher.

 

VI: 9-12th U1200  

 9-12th grade rated under 1200.  Five rounds, G/45.

🏆 Individual trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Outstanding Performance trophies for 4+ points. Team trophies for 1st and 2nd.

🎖️ Medals for players with scores of 3.0 or higher.

​VII: High School Championship

9-12th grade rated over 1200. Four rounds, G/45; d5. Clocks & notation required*.

🎖️ Medals for players with scores of 2.5 or higher.

SPECTATOR POLICY

Spectators are not permitted in the playing hall while games are being played. Players must exit the playing hall after finishing their games and reporting their scores.

When the first round is paired, parents are encouraged to accompany their players as they find their boards and listen to morning announcements. You may remain for the first five minutes of the first round only to observe your player and take a photo. After the first five minutes, we will ask you to return to the waiting area.

For rounds 2-5 parents who wish to escort their players into the playing hall may do so, but must then return to the waiting area. Since we need to keep the playing hall quiet, please, NO talking while finding your child's board.

EQUIPMENT

  • SETS are provided for tournament games, but players are encouraged to bring their own for skittles (waiting area).
  • CLOCKS, please bring your own if you have one. Clocks may be purchased from Wholesale Chess. You can support OSCO by using the link on our homepage.
  • SCORESHEETS are provided for this tournament.

REGISTRATION

This tournament is a Championship event and is open to Oklahoma K-12 players only.

Registration ends April 11th. No registrations will be accepted after the deadline.

Entry is $25/player. Parents registering three or more siblings for the same tournament: $20/player.

Current U.S. Chess membership is required. IF your child has no USCF ID, please do not get a membership on their website. OSCO will take care of it for you, see below.

New Players: If your child is an Oklahoma resident and does not have a USCF ID, OSCO will sponsor their first year of membership. Once you've completed registration, you will receive a confirmation email that will include a link for a voucher for new players.  OSCO will get your player a membership you after you have filled out our voucher form.                                                                                                          

 

Expired Memberships: If your child's USCF membership has expired then OSCO provides a discounted membership of $10/year. Please choose the regular entry + renewal option ($35). Once registered, fill out the voucher renewal form that is in the confirmation email. This discounted membership is for OK residents only.
