The course is scheduled for:

• February 9th

• February 16th

• March 1st

• March 8th

• March 15th

The classes start at 7 pm in our main playing room. They will end between 9 and 9:30 pm.

The classes are open to everyone including non-members and kids, and there is no charge.  One does not have to aspire to be a TD to take the course.

The first night will focus on the stuff that players need to know - making claims, the details of playing rules such as castling, en passant, pawn promotion, touch move, etiquette, penalties and dealing with an opponent and the TD, details and exceptions reagarding drawing rules, etc.

Players who don't wish to be TDs won't need to come to further sessions.

The TD instruction proper begins on February 16th. It covers subjects one must understand in order to complete a successful tournament. 

These include pairing rules, constructing and awarding prize funds (a difficult subject), issuing warnings and penalties, control of the room, deferring decisions, issuing byes, time controls, clocks, annoying behaviors, etc.

There will be homework and class exercises.
