SDCC JULY SCHOLASTIC TOURNAMENT
(For grades K through K12, all levels are welcome)
JULY 30, 2023 (Sunday)

 

Location: San Diego Chess Club (2225 6th Avenue, San Diego)

Schedule:

  • First round starts at 12:00 pm, please arrive 15 minutes earlier by 11:45 am. Doors open at 11 am.

  • Tournament is expected to be done by 3:30 pm, lower rated sections might finish earlier.

  • Awards ceremony right after all games are done.

Sections:

  • OPEN K-12 (recommeded for ratings over 800, advanced scholastic players, any grade)

  • U800 K-12 (recommended for experienced scholastic players, any grade)

  • U400 K-5 (recommended for beginner scholastic players, up to 400 ratings, elementary school only)

  • We reserve the right to change sections and move some participants if sections are uneven

Format: 3 rounds, USCF rated as Regular / Quick

Byes:

- No 1/2 pt byes are allowed, it's a 3 round event!  0 point byes are allowed.

Time Control:

  • G30d5 (game 30 minutes per side with 5 seconds delay on a clock)

Entry fee:

  • $20 + processing fees (choose the first payment option)
  • For families with more than 2 kids, 3rd/4th gets in at 50% discount (choose the appropriate payment option)
  • If you need us to renew your USCF, please add $20 (choose the appropriate payment option)

Prizes:  Top players in each section will get awarded (awards will be announced later)

Live Updates: all info (players, pairings, standings, tiebreaks, byes) will be available via CaissaChess live. You can view updates online or sign up for emails/text alerts.

Pairings: There will be no check-in process. Tentative Pairings will be posted few days before the tournament and will update with new registrations and cancellations (via CaissaChess live). If the oppopnent doesn't show up, we will pair with any available player from the same section or give 1 full point.

Regulations:

  • The pairings will be posted before the event, all no-shows will get forfeits and will be withdrawn from the tournament

  • No credit will be given to no-shows (if you don't notify us you need to cancel)

  • If you need to cancel, please email as soon as you know

  • If you are running late, please email so that we know you are coming
