Notes: Please read carefully.

Registered players: If you have not requested a bye for round 1, you will be paired automatically for the first round.

Per current policy, players and spectators will be required to sign a DCC liability waiver if they haven't done so already. As circumstances evolve, the Covid-Policy is subject to change. If it is changed you will have the option to withdraw and receive full reimbursement of registration fees until October 13th. Consult denverchess.com  for any last minute changes.

The Denver Chess Club reserves the right to change tournament specifications as deemed appropriate.

Regular Time-Control: 5 round Swiss system tournament (Saturday-Sunday All sections).

Registration: Online Only at denverchess.com - Limited to 190 players.  No at the door registrations will be allowed.  Online Registration closes when 190 players are reached or otherwise at 9am before the opening round on 10/15.

Registration Limited to the first 190 players (due to venue capacity).  Bring your board, chess pieces and clock if you own them!

Sections:

Championship (Minimum Rating USCF 1800)

Four additional USCF-RATED sections in the Fall Classic: U2200,  U1800, U1600, U1400/Unrated

Note: Unrated players must play in the U1400 section, or the 1600 section (as we allow players to play up 1 section if they pay the extra fee)

Note: Player can only play up at most 1 section (e.g. a player rated 1520 can only play in the U1600, or in the U1800 if they pay the extra fee; but not the U2200 nor championship)

Note: Separate considerations will be made for players having non-USCF ratings.  Please email president@denverchess.com ahead of the tournament with the particular circumstances.  Thank you!

Entry fees:

All Sections (Championship, U2200, U1800, U1600, U1400/Unrated): $70

DCC members and juniors (age under 14) receive a discount of $10.

$15 fee to play up one section from your live USCF standard rating.  It is only permitted to play up one section.

Time Control: All sections: Saturday: Round 1-2: G/90; +10 second delay.  Round 3, G/90; +30 second increment.  Sunday: Rounds 4-5, G/90; +30 second increment.

Bye Policy: Only one half point bye will be allowed and apply to a player's score with regards to winning prize money. Bye’s for Round 5 will be scored as zero, but will not be considered a withdrawal.

Prizes :

Championship [1st, 2nd,3rd]: $1,000, $500, $250; U2200: $250;

Other sections [1st, 2nd,3rd]: U2200: $600, $450, $300  ===  U1800: $450, $350, $200   === U1600: $350, $225, $150 ===  U1400/Unrated: $250, $150, $100

Round Times :

All Sections: Round 1-5: Saturday 10 am, 2:30 pm, 6:30 pm Sunday 10 am 4:30 pm
